How we Produce Salt
The salt producing lake is located in a closed basin in the Mediterranean region with approximately 1,350 square miles surface area. The lake has one of the worlds highest salt content ratio. It is estimated to have a 250 million ton salt reserve.
Our salt enterprise is situated on the northern part of the lake where the salt content is higher. During the winter months the salt is fed by rain and snow to turn into a solution.
The salt (NaCI) values of water is continuously kept under control by our laboratory until the production period. The first salt crystals start to form in June when the vaporization is enhanced. The crystals form a solid salt layer under the water line.
Each of the formed salt crystals hold trace elements together and starts to precipitate with several minerals. After the salt formation is developed in appropriate quality and thickness, almost all water is vaporized when the summer season starts in August.
Following the production and planning, our specially designed salt cutting equipment cut the salt to the requested thickness.
Production is environmentally friendly, without harming the geological layer of the lake.
The salt that is stocked at our sites is hardened as a result of its contact with air on the surface layer, and protected from the effects of pollution, which may be originated from surrounding rain waters.
The obtained salt is natural crude salt.
